Novelly is proud to be stewarded by a Board of Directors who represent literary, education, social justice, technology, design and youth development fields, but who are all united by a passion for the civic engagement of youth.


Victoria Singh Gill , University of Pennsylvania Doctoral Candidate  Victoria Singh Gill was a former middle school English teacher, is currently a doctoral candidate in the Reading, Writing, and Literacy program at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education. She completed her BA at University of California Berkeley both in English and Comparative Literature as well as a Masters of Arts in Teaching Secondary English at University of Southern California. Her research questions are: What happens when I adopt an intersectional lens to inform my teaching and learning in a secondary English Language Arts classroom? What does it look like to engage in an intersectional pedagogy to build criticality through young adult literature?

Kyra Campbell , High School Student  Kyra Campbell is an avid reader from Northern Virginia. Kyra is a passionate leader for women's rights for women all around the world. She currently attending Stone Bridge High school where she is President of her Girl Up club, and mentors another community club. In the future Kyra hopes to attend college abroad and work for an NGO.

Marie Marquardt , Scholar-in-Residence, Emory University  Marie Marquardt is a Scholar-in-Residence at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology and an author of young adult fiction. She has published many articles and co-authored two non-fiction books about Latin American immigration to the U.S., and three young adult novels that address similar themes . Marie is a co-founder of El Refugio, a Georgia non-profit that serves detained immigrants and their families. Marie lives in a busy household in Decatur, Georgia with her spouse, four children, a dog and a bearded dragon. You can find out more about Marie at her  website .

Katie Crank , Director of Operations, Policy & Research at the Center for Court Innovation  Katie Crank is committed to driving change in the criminal justice system. She co-leads a range of national criminal justice reform initiatives, working with jurisdictions across the country to reduce the overuse of incarceration, implement gender-responsive programs, and improve justice system responses to both defendants and victims. She brings 15 years of design and branding experience and balances working for global brands from her own creative studio with raising 2 children. Her combination of passion, leadership abilities and youth volunteer experience make her a strong advocate for the Novelly mission.

Her current work includes building Education Innovation Fellowships with the NGO Women Graduates and delegacy with the United Nations. Sara holds a PhD from UCLA in social equity education and an MA in organizational design from Seattle University.

In her career, she’s also had the good fortune to work with amazing people and projects in Costa Rica, Mexico, Kenya, Zimbabwe, India and South Africa. She finds herself most comfortable finding synergies between technology and social change and loves to help others learn more about the two.
